Tony originally studied Engineering and Mathematics at Trinity College Dublin and worked for many years in the manufacturing engineering industry.
During this time he also practised Fine Art and Landscape photography, hand-printing all of his own work.
He has had numerous exhibitions in Ireland and has received many awards at national and international levels including the Blue Ribbon Distinction of the National de l'Art Photographique.
In 2005, fulfilling a lifetime ambition, he left his job as Engineering Manager of a well known multinational company and became a full time photographer launching Tony G Murray Photography, in his home town of Naas.
Having a very strong background in traditional printing he soon became an expert in digital Giclée Printing.
He won the contract for copying and reproducing the Countess Markievicz collection for Lissadell House in Sligo.
In 2006 he then set up an additional commercial venture, Murray Imaging Studios in Naas, Co. Kildare.
This successful company specialises in providing a museum quality giclée printing, and archiving service to artists and photographers.
He continues to sell his own fine art prints to national and international clients and is represented by Tuckmill Gallery, Naas.
In early 2007 Tony received his Licentiateship of the Irish Professional Photographers Association, LIPPA.
In June 2008 two of his images were awarded the Diamond Standard by the IPPA , the highest mark attainable.
